Meet the Staff

Physician and Staff Bio's

Nitin Banwar, M.D.
Dr. Banwar earned his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College in India and completed his internship in Calcutta, as well as a two-year residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester. Dr. Banwar did his orthopaedic residency at Hamot Medical Center and Shriner's Hospital, along with Duke University. Dr. Banwar is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. His special interest is in adult reconstructive surgery of the knee and hip.


 

Helen Wong, M.D.
Dr. Wong earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester where she was inducted into the AOA Honor Society. She completed a one year internship in general surgery as well as her orthopaedic residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Wong is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. She is also certified by the ISCD to interpret bone densiometry and to treat osteoporosis. Dr.Wong is a member of the Rochester Orthopaedic Society, The New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the New York State and Ontario County Medical Societies.

 

Kara Gilman, DPT
Kara Gilman is the Lead Physical Therapist for the Joint Replacement Center at the Springs. Kara earned her Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2005 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2007 from Utica College of Syracuse University.  She has been a physical therapist at Clifton Springs Hospital for two years. Kara Gilman has extensive experience in acute care and orthopedic physical therapy.  Kara specializes in physical rehabilitation after total joint replacement surgery. Her interventions include gait training, stair navigation, adaptive equipment training, therapeutic exercise and adaptation of activities of daily living.  Kara provides numerous educational activities, such as; community seminars, hospital seminars, pre-op education class and discharge class.     

 

 

 

Denise Chamberlin, BS/RN

Denise Chamberlin is the Joint Care Coordinator (JCC)  for the Joint Replacement Center at the Springs.  Denise earned her AAS from Cayuga Community College in 1979.  She has been employed by Clifton Springs Hospital for 29 years. Denise fulfilled the requirements for her BS/RN degree with Keuka College in 2005.  As JCC, Denise serves as the manager within the Joint Replacement Center and supervises the development, implementation and organization of the joint center program. She oversees day to day operations, manages pre-operative patient preparation, plans quality improvement initiatives, and provides education within the hospital and to the community.
